GLOBAL NAIR SEWA SAMAJ
The Annual General Body Meeting of Nair Service Society Delhi held in 2007 had decided to organise a Global Nair Sammelanam in Delhi. Accordingly, the first Prathinidhi Sammelanam of various Nair Organizations in India and abroad was held on 9th October 2008 in the conference hall of National Co-operative Union of India, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi – 110049. Various issues involved in the formation of a Global Nair Organization were discussed in detail in the meeting and decided to go ahead for the formation of Global Nair Service Society.
Shri. L.K. Advani, former Deputy Prime Minister of India, inaugurated the Nair Maha Sammelanam held at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi on 9th October, 2008. Former Union Ministers Shri. O. Rajagopal, Shri. P.J. Kurian, Shri. Ramesh Chennithala, KPCC President, Shri. T.K.A. Nair, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Ravi Pillai, Prof. Omchery N.N. Pillai, Shri. Payipra Radhakrishnan, Shri. P. A. Menon and Shri. R.R. Nair graced the occasion.
To realise the dream of forming an umbrella Organisation of all NSS Karayogams functioning in India and abroad, Shri. M.K.G. Pillai, Shri.Babu Panicker and Shri Balachandran Nair travelled to various parts of the globe and contacted several Nair Organizations and obtained their support to form an apex body for nair organizations.
Accordingly, the second Nair Prathinidhi Sammelanam was held on 17th October, 2010 at Delhi. The meeting was inaugurated by Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose, IAS which was presided over by Shri. M.K.G. Pillai. The Delegates unanimously decided to form Global NSS for the upliftment, networking andwelfare of the Nair community around the world. An ad-hoc committee was formed, Shri. K.G. Manmadhan Nair (USA) as Chairman, Shri. M.K.G. Pillai as General Secretary and Shri. M.D. Jayaprakash as Treasurer with the provision of co-opting more representative members to the committee. President and General Secretary of NSS Delhi will be the permanent members of the Director Board of the Global NSS and the Headquarters of Global NSS will be in Delhi at Mannam International Centre.
On 17th October 2010, the Vijayadasami Day, the sacred Sanku blown thrice with the rhythms of panchavadhyam, Shri. T.K.A Nair, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister of India, lit the traditional lamp signifying the formation of Global NSS at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. The Global Nair Maha Sammelanam was inaugurated by Shri. Vayalar Ravi, Honourable Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs. The logo of Global NSS was launched by Shri. T.K.A. Nair. The function was presided over by Shri. K.K. Venugopal, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India. Shri. M.K.G. Pillai welcomed the audience, Shri. R.R. Nair conveyed greetings and Shri. Babu Panicker presented Vote of Thanks. Shri. Peethambara Kurup, MP, Padma Sree Dr. Ravi Pillai (Behrin), Shri. Vijay Mohan (Dubai), Shri. M.K. Unnithan (Chennai), Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose IAS, Mr. J.K.Menon (Doha) and many other dignitaries from around the globe participated in the function.
The day witnessed the fulfilment of the long cherished dream of millions of Nair Community Members around the world to come under one umbrella for the upliftment, networking and welfare of the Nairs and to extend various quality services to the community.
In December, 2011 under the efficient leadership of Shri. N.R. Panicker and Shri.Jaishankar Unnithan, all the Tamil Nadu units of Nair Service Societies were affiliated to the Global NSS and is known as Global NSS, Tamil Nadu Chapter.
In October 2012 a Regional Conference of Global NSS was held in Dallas, Texas, USA under the then Chairman, Shri. K. Manmadhan Nair. In this Conference Shri. Sashi Tharoor, MP, Princess Gauri Parvathi Bai Thampuratti, Dr. Viswanathan Venniyil, President, Shri. M.K.G. Pillai, General Secretary and Shri. Jaishankar Unnithan, Secretary also participated. It was a grand function consisting of Nair organisations from all over the world.
Under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Krishna Kurup, President, Maharashtra NSS with 32 Karayogams affiliated to the Global NSS in a function organized in Mumbai. KNSS of Karnataka and several other state level organizations are in the process of Affiliation. Thus the Global NSS is marching ahead with the cooperation of Nair Community organisations in India and around the world to providededicated and quality service to the community.
